4 Tips to Help You Look Chic Without Trying

Sometimes we wake up extremely late, have a job interview to plan for, or just feel like we have *no* clothes to wear while throwing every top and trousers we own around the bedroom in a huff.

Whatever the reason, sometimes we just want to look put together as fast as possible without any hassle or having to think – it’s like that sometimes.

For those days, we have put together a piece to help you look chic without you even having to try! Read on to find out more!

Have a Signature Uniform

We are not suggesting you start wearing green gingham dresses or a blazer and tie every day (unless you want to), but your uniform can be anything you do not mind wearing daily to put it on without thinking and go about your day. There are plenty of celebrities who swear by this method and have had their daily ‘uniform’ become a solid part of their identity. The argument is that you do not have to waste time thinking about what you should wear, which frees you up to think about everything else, and it should cover most day-to-day scenarios (such as smart-casual), so you always feel prepared when being completely unprepared.

Head over to the COS Summer Sale for some stunning staple pieces you will love to wear any day of the week.

Accessorize!

Accessories are magical little things that can change the look and feel of your appearance and outfit in seconds. They are also much cheaper (and smaller) than buying more clothes, which is a win-win when you want to mix things up a bit. Jewelry is often seen as a ‘final touch’ when we have perfected our outfit, which is why it can psychologically influence how you and others see your outfit.

Be sure to choose pieces you love, show off your true personality, or create the image you want. For example, you might wear small hoops for a day in the office but large dangly hearts for your day off (if your office isn’t cool enough).

Keep Things Clean and Tidy

Stains, rips, holes, and bobbled-up material can all make our outfit look run down and scruffy, so keeping on top of small issues like this can have dramatic effects on our appearance. Keep on top of keeping your whites *white* by using laundry detergent and powders designed to keep them bright. Treat any stains you notice as soon as possible with a clothes-safe stain remover, and get yourself a lint and bobble remover to remove balled-up threads, lint, hairs, and other debris that you might have stuck to your clothes.

Be Comfortable

Whatever you choose to wear, be sure that it is comfortable above all else. It is really easy to spot when someone is uncomfortable in their clothes for whatever reason, and any thoughts of you looking chic and put together will be replaced by concern for your frowning face every time you take another step in your heels or adjust your bra.
